Fabrication of a Steel Picking Platform for the Scrap Processing Equipment Industry

At WickFab, we have cultivated a reputation for excellence in custom metal fabrication. In the project highlighted here, a customer in the scrap processing equipment industry contracted us to construct a steel picking platform. The customer supplied prints laying out the overall design and component parts. We adjusted and finalized the design, and created the production schedule. The necessary materials were procured from trusted sources. Utilizing a variety of advanced in house machinery and tools, mild steel was manipulated into the required shapes while holding a tolerance of ± 1/16". Processes including forming, laser cutting, channel and angle rolling, tube and pipe bending, along with expert welding were used to create the platform. This unit’s construction incorporated virtually every aspect of our fabrication capabilities to execute. The components were finished with coatings of blue and yellow paint. Full dimensional and visual testing was performed to ensure quality and accuracy.

Final dimensions of the complete platform 45’ 2" in length, a width of 32’ 7", and 13’ in height. Turnaround time for this project was 4 weeks, installed in Waterloo, Indiana.
